Part II - Drawing the hair and colouring the drawing

Step 1:The hair - We will start by drawing spikes at the lower part of the hair starting from just above the eyes and the keeping them going in the same direction. Try to make the spikes look a little bit random in relation to size and angle, but make sure that they all point in a similar direction.

Draw a circle or two using the Circle Tool above the head to guide yourself on how high the hair volume would be. Look at the image below for an example.

Hair Volume Circle

You should then draw random spikes all over the circles that you have created. Make sure you don't keep any of 'round' outlines of the circle exposed.

Step 2: Colouring the hair - Select the whole hair layer, or if the hair is split on more than one layer, merge* all the layers together and select the whole layer using the Magic Wand Tool. Once you have the whole thing selected, you will have to reduce this area using Select>Modify>Contract and then reducing the size by 3 pixels. You will now have to colour this area in normal orange (#F1B204).

Switch the selection to the unselected area by going to Select>Inverse. Colour this area in Black.

Add a new layer above the hair and draw an ear similar to the one seen in the small image below using the Polygonal Lasso Tool. Make sure to fill the closed shape in white.

Ichigo's Ear

We will now go back to the hair to add texture to it. Use the Polygonal Lasso Tool to draw spiky-like shapes that cover the upper and lower parts of the hair and colour these in darker orange ( #F78609 ). This is the toughest part of the drawing and it should take you some patience to complete.

It is now time to colour the glossy parts of the hair in lighter orange (#EEECA5). Use the Polygonal Lasso Tool to draw zigzag lines around the middle of the hair. Try to have a flow across the random spikes that you make. Use the same tone to colour at the upper tip of the hair to show the light effect. Constantly look at the image below to know where to colour exactly.

(Note: I have added extra hair to the sides of Ichigo's hair).

Step 3: Colouring the face - Select the gray part of Ichigo's eyes using the Magic Wand Tool and colour it in brown (#8F4A0E).

Use the Polygon Lasso Tool to add extra details and shading to the ear. You will have to colour the ear in pink (#FFEAD7) and then adds shades in beige (#E2D0BF).

We will now add some shades over Ichigo's face. Create a new layer and use the Polygon Lasso TOol to draw a shade representing the hair's shadow. Make it looks spiky resembling the original look of the hair. Colour the shade in beige (#E2D0BF) and make it transparent.

In accordance to the image below, add all other shadows in beige ( #E2D0BF ).

Select the face area using the Polygonal Lasso Tool. Exclude the eyes area from the selection by pressing Shift while selecting around the eyes. Colour the face area in pink ( #FFEAD7 ).

Finally, as you can see, I have edited the face to make it look a bit thinner, this was done by connecting all the layers and then using Edit>Free Transform.
