The Oman3D PlayStation 2 Competition Sponsored by PlayStation 2 is almost over. It was a really tough challenge for us to choose the top five entries from all the great submissions we got from our members from all around the globe. We would like to thank everyone who participated in this competition, congratulations to the top five finalists and we wish them all the best of luck in the voting stage. We apologise for all the other contestants who put great efforts in this competition and yet couldn't make it to this stage. We are really sorry for having only five prizes, there were really too many great submissions and for sure so many of them do deserve awards and prizes, but we are limited by a small number of prizes and whoever didn't make it this time will hopefully have a better chance in our coming competitions.

The top five entries were chosen on the basis of originality, amount of effort put, techniques used, and the overall idea of the design. There were so many great submissions that had great ideas, showed awesome graphical talents, and looked very good, but several lacked the "banner' feel, while some other ones had nothing to do with the theme of gameplay or the PlayStation 2 console.

We really hope that our members enjoyed this competition as much as we did, we hope that this pushed you to try something new, learn a new technique, try a new theme or maybe just open the old Photoshop and make a new design. Here are the five finalist designs of this competition, the winning design in the poll wins a shiny new PlayStation 2 console and the rest of four contestants will win an Athens 04 Olympics PS2 game CD. The poll lasts for one week starting today.

Here are the finalists (In alphabetical order of designers' name)

- Dark (Qatar)
Dark's second attempt at the PS2 competition was nothing but "perfect", not only that it has an awesome look and a fancy colour, but the whole design is very balanced, it has a great texture, a solid layout, and a great overall blend. What we loved the most about the design is that all the details included make it look and feel like a true PlayStation advertisement. Dark's final work is extremely professional and it was very obvious that it was made to win.


- DeeZeL (Egypt)
Several people pointed out saying that this design can't be real. The background looked too good for many people to actually think it was all made by personal effort without using any external images. The quick development of Deezel's style and techniques made him a real tough opponent for so many people, he was one of the very first people to submit his design and he was very confident saying that it is good 'enough' to make it to the next stage, and it actually did. The design is really slick, the typography was much more developed than many of the other submission and the unique aura over it made it stand out.


- hiawoood (Oman)
hiawoood's design JUST made it on time, though the competition took a really long time, but it seems that he wanted to shock everyone at the very last hours of the competition. This awesome 3D Studio MAX experiment can't be matched. The whole design is massively complex and really required some serious skill and talent to come out at this level of detail and perfection. The design shouts out with originality and takes the competition to a whole new level.


- Jazzz (KSA)
Jazzz has competed against himself to create the most creative and original design. Nobody else managed to make anything as creative or even close to Jazzz's crazy designs. What makes Jazzz special is his sense of humour in design, the freedom in his choice of topics, and the massive amount of participation and effort in posting in this website. Jazzz's design needs no description, it was all created without using any external images, and it has an awesome funny idea that simply rocks.


- Muhannad (Egypt)
Muhannad's design was not "another design from the bunch", it clearly stood out for its very sharp look, smart layout and "business feel". This was a good example of a linearly developed design as Muhannad kept on posting the design as he enhanced it more and more until it got its current balanced state.


Again, we would like to thank all the people who worked so hard for this competition, and we wish all the people who didn't make it to this stage better luck in our coming competition (That won't be long!). There were some submission that made it REALLY close to this stage (eg. Lynx and makuncle) , but obviously - and sadly -, we can't make everyone win. Special thanks to Raven, Solidus, Dr Diablo, Sindbad, kindows, Lynx, Goldberg, rust3dboy, makuncle, and the prince.

Please vote for the winner of the PlayStation 2 console. The poll is going to last for a whole week. We wanted to have a voting control mechanism as to have people with a certain number of posts only qualified to vote, but due to the fact that we moved recently to our new forum database and that would mean that we would have an insufficient number of people qualified to vote. For this reason, we are going to clearly watch over the IPs and newly registered members, any suspicious events might easily lead to the disqualification of any contestant.

On this occasion i wana say something about my entries...
I just made my entries in a pattern....(from time to time)
The 1st one tells uss that i will make banners from PaSt2Future....The second one is the Ancient banner...about Alexander the great...Then time goes...next came...it was of Western (COWBOYS) time...something about 1800's....then the next came...About 1900's..it was on Albert Einstien...Then at last we come to the present time...It was RADAR banner....which is nowadays technology...then my final submission was about Space Station ....i went to the future .......

So, this was the whole story....PaSt2Future.....

I didnt wanna vote but when i saw Haiwood's entry.. I thought that i just had to. so he gets my vote.

i voted for muhannad coz actually it's related to the whole idea coz it's all about showing the product's closer look in this case it's the joystick he had a closer look into and that's what had should be done i know the other entries great but it's not well themed as muhannad's and some of the entries didn't have slogans
