Creating a Twitter Widget in Flash

Creating a Twitter Widget in Flash Learn how to create a simple Flash widget to show your latest updates on Twitter. The widget is written in AS3 and relies on a PHP script and a cross domain policy to communicate with Twitter. You can view this tutorial here.

Like almost all Flash/AS3 Twitter tutorials, this version does not function once online. I have yet to to see someone post a Flash Twitter tutorial that works—once the files are uploaded to a live environment…

To ensure that these files are of little use—I removed my copies from the server, uploaded the source files from this tutorial, and alas, they do not work either.

PHP 5 is enabled and working on this Media Temple server as well…

I stand corrected—this does indeed work. I retract my comments, admitting MY mistake, when I am indeed the one who is wrong.

Craig, on the last page of the tutorial I explain that this widget, like all other ones, is restricted to making only 150 requests to the Twitter server, due to Twitter limitations. Your hosting account might have a shared IP with other users of the same service, so your requests might be always already consumed.

    Craig, what did you do?
Because I have the same problem. It works on my computer, but it does not work once online. I followed all the steps very carefully and im sure it hasnt been loaded 150 times.
