Buy Your Books From Amazon.co.uk From Oman

Finding a proper book to read in Oman can be a quite challenging task. There are so many problems with our market, there is no such thing as a massive bookshop in the country to which you could go to and get whatever book you want, you cannot walk up to the counter and order a book that they do not have in store or even get something that’s been sold out. The majority of the technical computer books sold around here are extremely outdated Arabic translations of random Flash-5-and-Photoshop-7-learn-in-24-hours books that are so horrible anyway even if disregard the fact that are a million years old already. I was looking forward to the stupid Annual Book Exhibition held earlier this year and I, swear to God, found books from 2002.

Let’s face it, if you want recent English books to read you will have to buy them from elsewhere. You don’t need to travel because we do, you know, have the Internet now, however, the major problem that we have with ordering stuff online is delivery, thanks to the reputation we have for being the world’s number one source for terrorist activity, not a great number of websites deliver to the Middle East, and those few websites that do deliver to Oman charge for it like hell.

That’s why companies like ARAMEX started their leased mail box service under which anybody could open up an American or a British mail address within ARAMEX, which you can later use to ship stuff you buy from online stores in those countries and then have ARAMEX mail them to your by charging you for it by the weight. Using ARAMEX requires paying a registration fee, once that is done, you can use your ARAMEX address to buy anything from websites that allow you to ship stuff to PO Boxes, not all of them do.

That sounds all good, but I’ve been recently using another service to ship books I bought from the UK which I thought was easier to use and offered a better deal if you are planning to buy books from Amazon.co.uk. This carrier service is offered by Al Manahil For Educational Consultancy, these people would deliver any book you buy from Amazon.co.uk to Oman for one Omani Rial per book, regardless of the size, weight, or number of books that you buy. Combined with Amazon’s free delivery for items that cost 15 pounds for more, you can literally just pay RO 1 per book for the delivery from Amazon to Oman. I have bought loads of books from Amazon and got them delivered to Oman via Al Manahil, it really actually works.

Using Al Manahil’s service does not require registration or any other sort of prior commitment, you make your order directly with Amazon.co.uk, make the payment, and instead of putting your home address in Oman, you put Al Manahil’s address in the UK, once they receive the package from Amazon it usually takes them about a week to get it to Oman, they will call you to come collect your package from their office in Al Khuwair. You go there, pay your one Rial for each book your ordered and get your package.

I have been really pleased with the service of Al Manahil and was not paid for this post. If you are in Oman and craving for that book you saw on Amazon, now you know how to get it. You can get the contact details of Al Manahil and read the instructions on how to make your order from their official website here.

This is such an amazing service! I being in Qatar have used Aramex and they are pretty good but this is by far a better option. I just wonder how they are able to make money?

Anyway, always amazed by what you do with the site. Good luck in the future and farewell.

I live in Doha and I find it hard and expensive to use Aramex, they ship one box at a time and their rates are high, slow response time and lost packages. I am using http://myuspostoffice.com for my forwarding to Doha Qatar. I am buyin everrything from USA cheap on Amazon and ebay.com thru myuspostoffice.com. They are super fast and approved by US post office. They ship to me by DHL, USPS, FeDex and TNT. I only paid $79.99 for the year for membership. This is another good mail forwarding service that should be considered when purchasing things from USA.
