In a press release today, Macromedia has announced its plans for the new upgrade to the Flash Player which will have support for ActionScript 3. The press release mentioned that ActionScript 3 will comply with the latest ECMAScript specifications and that it will increase developer productivity by making it easier to find and fix errors earlier. Flash 8 Professional does not at this moment have any apparent features that involve an upgrade to the scripting language of Flash, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Macromedia released an update to the existing version to accompany the new player update.
