DCRP recently reviewed the HP Photosmart R817, a compact 5 megapixel, 5x optical zoom, 2″ LCD digicam that they recommend for anyone that does not plan on taking a lot of long exposures as otherwise it seems to be a really good camera with easy-to use menus and in-camera help system. The R817 uses SD and MMCs for storage, and comes with 32MBs of internal memory, it costs $349 in the US.
