Dpreview published today their review of the ultra compact Canon PowerShot SD400 (Known in Europe as the Digital IXUS 50) which features a 5 megapixel CCD, 2″ TFT monitor, and 3x zoom. Dpreview recommend this camera saying that it is a “well-specified camera that can genuinely claim to be pocket-sized, and it produces images that – whilst by no means perfect – are sharp, clean and colourful, and it does so with the minimum fuss. It’s so small, and is so enjoyable to handle and use that you cannot help but take it with you wherever you go”. However, the lack of manual controls over shutter speed stopped it from being a “Highly Recommended”. The SD400 costs around $370 (RO 142) in the US.
